Dr. Rodriguez Johnson
Founder & Executive Director
Dr. Rodriguez Johnson is the visionary founder and Executive Director of Achievement Preparatory Academy. With more than 20 years of experience in public education, he has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district-level recruitment leader, dedicating his career to expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities for all students.
As the founder of APA, Dr. Johnson developed the school’s innovative educational model, which combines leadership education, project-based learning, and elementary career exploration to prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. His vision is to cultivate confident, compassionate leaders who are equipped to solve real-world challenges and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Johnson has led initiatives in school improvement, talent development, educational equity, and community partnerships. He is passionate about building strong relationships with families, empowering educators, and creating learning environments where every child is challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their fullest potential.
As Executive Director, Dr. Johnson oversees the strategic planning, school development, community engagement, fundraising, and operational implementation of Achievement Preparatory Academy while working closely with the Board of Directors to bring the school’s mission and vision to life.

Together, they provide strategic oversight, ensure fiscal responsibility, and uphold the school’s mission of developing future-ready leaders through academic excellence, leadership development, and career-connected learning.
Our board members bring expertise in education, law, finance, business, governance, and community engagement, ensuring Achievement Preparatory Academy remains focused on serving students with integrity, innovation, and excellence.
Bernard Levett
Board Chair
Bernard Levett is a respected business and community leader with extensive experience in organizational leadership and strategic planning. As Chair of the Board of Directors, he provides governance and oversight that advances Achievement Preparatory Academy’s vision while ensuring accountability and long-term sustainability. His commitment to servant leadership and educational equity helps guide the school as it prepares students to become confident leaders and lifelong learners. Bernard founded B Levett & Company in 2002 after years of cultivating his talent. With more than 20 years in the Construction Industry spanning various roles of project engineering, architecture, project management, program management, and as a general contractor, he brings a well rounded perspective to B. Levett & Company. His executive leadership has proven vital to his success and the success he’s shared in partnership with his clients.
Upon receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Tuskegee University, Bernard gained valuable experiences working at R.L. Brown & Associates as well at the Sizemore Group. In 2001, He broadened his experience by working for Princewill Properties as a Senior Project Manager. His tenure proved to be a pivotal time. One year later, he founded his construction company with a focus on commercial and residential development. Today, B. Levett & Company is recognized as a reputable builder in metro Atlanta. With various projects ranging from residential to municipal projects, Bernard has built a reputable company delivering the best client focused service.
Bernard also focuses his time on community investment. A few of his affiliations include Board Member of New Life Community Ministries, Mentor of Gwinnett County Schools Mentoring Program, Member 100 Black Men of America – Dekalb Chapter, Board Member of House of Love for the Family Foundation, Graduate of Leadership Rockdale Class of ’17, Member of Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Member of Dekalb County Chamber of Commerce, 2 nd Vice President of Dekalb County Tuskegee Alumni Club, and Mentor of Young Men of Mathis Mentoring Program of Bob Mathis Elementary School.
Katie Armstrong
Katie Armstrong is an attorney whose professional expertise strengthens the Board’s work in governance, policy, and legal compliance. Passionate about educational access and student success, she is dedicated to ensuring Achievement Preparatory Academy operates with integrity while fostering an environment where every child can thrive. Her perspective as both a legal professional and advocate for families is invaluable to the school’s continued growth. Katie was born and raised in the great state of Georgia. She grew up in Gwinnett County where she graduated from Brookwood High School. Katie continued her education at the University of Georgia where she earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice.
After graduating from college Katie returned to Gwinnett County and was employed by the Gwinnett County Solicitor-General’s Office as a legal assistant while she attended law school at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
Megan Gordon
Megan Gordon is an accomplished speech-language pathologist and language and literacy leader with more than 20 years of experience improving educational outcomes for children with speech, language, reading, and dyslexia-related learning differences. She currently serves as Director of Clinical Services at the Atlanta Speech School, where she leads strategic planning, clinical operations, interdisciplinary program development, and literacy initiatives that expand equitable access to high-quality services.
A Certified Dyslexia Practitioner and recognized expert in structured literacy, Meagan has extensive training in Wilson Language and Orton-Gillingham methodologies. She collaborates with the Rollins Center for Language & Literacy to advance professional learning and evidence-based literacy practices across schools. In addition to her clinical leadership, she has served as Adjunct Faculty at Georgia State University, preparing future speech-language pathologists, and is a frequent presenter at national and state conferences on literacy, dyslexia, and early language intervention.
As a member of the Achievement Preparatory Academy Board of Directors, Meagan brings deep expertise in literacy, language development, special education, and instructional leadership, helping to ensure every student has the foundation to become a confident reader, effective communicator, and lifelong learner.
Dr. Ken Kemp
Dr. Ken Kemp brings a rare and powerful blend of education expertise, political strategy, and on-the-ground advocacy, making him uniquely positioned to advance the Center for Strong Public Schools’ policy and legislative agenda across Georgia.
A nationally recognized education leader, counselor educator, and advocate, Dr. Kemp has deep roots in Georgia’s public education system. His career spans both charter and district schools, where he has built and scaled comprehensive student support and counseling systems that have earned statewide recognition. He has advised education leaders on policy, practice, and equity, consistently centering the needs of students, educators, and communities.
Dr. Kemp is also a contributing faculty member at Walden University, where he prepares future counselors and education leaders while remaining deeply engaged in current research, ethics, and policy conversations shaping the field. His lived experience as a practitioner, combined with his scholarly and policy background, allows him to translate complex research and policy issues into actionable strategies that resonate with lawmakers, educators, and community stakeholders.
In addition to his education leadership, Dr. Kemp brings significant political experience that strengthens CSPS’s advocacy and Action Fund work. He has served as a campaign strategist, supporting candidates with messaging development, voter engagement strategy, and issue framing. He has played key roles in fundraising efforts, helping candidates and organizations cultivate donor relationships and secure critical resources. Dr. Kemp has also been instrumental in building political support and securing endorsements by leveraging trusted relationships with educators, community leaders, and stakeholders across the state.
